NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said "stepping up" support for the Alliance partners “under Russian pressure,” including Georgia, would be discussed at the meeting of Foreign Ministers on April 6 and 7.

Stoltenberg noted the Russian invasion of Ukraine highlighted the importance of supporting the “highly valued” partners.

It is important that all of those who believe in democracy, the rule of law, need to provide support to close and highly valued partners like Georgia. It’s better to support sooner than later,” Stoltenberg told the press on Wednesday.

In his remarks, the NATO Secretary-General reaffirmed the door of the Alliance remained open, while Russia could not veto any applicant country’s membership aspirations.
