Infrastructure Ministry fulfils 3-month budget with 9% excess

The Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia has exceeded its plan approved by the state budget for the first quarter of 2022 by nine percent, the state body revealed on Wednesday.
The amount invested by the Ministry in infrastructure projects amounted to 406.2 million GEL ($131.8mln/€120.6mln) in first three months of this year, surpassing the approved plan by 33.3 million GEL ($10.8mln/€9.8mln) and the figure of the previous year by 41.9 million GEL ($13.6mln/€12.4mln).

Georgia has never considered and will not consider construction of a road connecting Georgia with Russia’s Chechnya republic, the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure said in response to media reports on Thursday.
Construction is underway for the Kvesheti-Kobi road and tunnel section in Georgia’s north, with the section forming a part of the North-South corridor in the central part of the country.
The Georgian Government will offer projects worth about 2 billion GEL ($647mln/€587mln) to the construction business in the country this year, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili announced on Monday.
In about 10 years construction of all highways will be completed in Georgia, households across the country will have unfettered access to water supply, all municipal landfills will be replaced by modern regional centers, regions will be socially and economically developed, municipalities will be strengthened and their capacities will increase, says Georgian Infrastructure Minister Irakli Karseladze at the presentation of the 10-year development plan today.
The Georgian Infrastructure Ministry on Wednesday said the China Road and Bridge Corporation, the contractor company for a road rehabilitation project in the country’s western Guria region, had been fined ₾1.7 million ($629,664) for failing to fulfil the terms of the deal in three sections of the road.
