A delegation from Denmark, headed by Jeppe Kofod, the country's Foreign Minister, visited parts of the Administrative Boundary Line (ABL) with Georgia’s Russian-occupied breakaway Tskhinvali (South Ossetia) region on Friday.
Accompanied by Marek Szczygieł, the Head of the European Union Monitoring Mission in Georgia (EUMM), Kofod was informed about the most recent security developments along the ABL.
Szczygieł informed the visiting official on developments around the Odzisi crossing point and their impact on the daily life and human rights of conflict-affected communities, EUMM said.
He also emphasised how the prolonged closure of the crossing point has had a negative impact on the local population's freedom of movement and access to education or adequate healthcare.

The EUMM is an unarmed civilian monitoring mission deployed in September 2008 following the end of the Russia-Georgia war. The mission has a valid mandate throughout Georgia, but the de facto authorities of Abkhazia and Tskhinvali have denied them access to the territories under their control.
