The State Regulation Agency for Medical Activities will publish an interim report on the death of a 27-year-old nurse from Akhaltsikhe this week, announces Georgian Health Minister Ekaterine Tikaradze.
She said that at the time of the vaccination, the nurse was in a medical facility which had an intensive care unit where she received care, however to no effect.
Tikaradze said that it is important to improve the quality of each clinic in the regions and the Ministry of Health is doing its best to achieve this goal.
Head of the Georgian National Centre for Disease Control Amiran Gamkrelidze said that representatives of AstraZeneca may come to Georgia to study the case.
Gamkrelidze said that the regulatory agency will send the report on the nurse's death to the Uppsala Monitoring Centre in Sweden and to the World Health Organization.
He said that both AstraZeneca and the World Health Organisation are interested for the situation to be 'clarified and understood.’
