Eight teachers at public school No. 161 in Tbilisi have tested positive for coronavirus and so the school is moving to a partial distance learning mode.
Deputy Education Minister Ekaterine Dgebuadze has announced earlier today that the virus was confirmed following the regular testing, the school administration immediately addressed the local healthcare facility.
When infection is reported there is a timely response and we do not have to close the school completely”, Dgebuadze said noting that there are cases when only specific classrooms switch to distance learning in Georgia.
Georgia has reported 133 new cases of coronavirus, 276 recoveries and 12 deaths in the past 24 hours. 10,678 tests have been conducted around the country including 5,456 rapid tests and 5,222 PCR tests.
Meanwhile, Georgia is expected to receive the first doses of the Covid-19 vaccine via the Covax platform this month. Vaccination will start with the AstraZeneca vaccine, in addition, the Covax platform has also offered Georgia the new American vaccine from Johnson & Johnson.
