Head of tourist company arrested for road accident which killed 17 in 2020

The head of Georgian tourist company Travel.ge Shalva Bolotashvili and the owner of a minibus have been arrested earlier today for a deadly road accident which killed 17 individuals last year. 

They have been charged with the use of a vehicle with technical problems which caused the death of people. 

The minibus with 20 individuals fell down an 80-meter-high slope in the Dusheti municipality of the Khevsureti region, near the village of Biso on August 23, 2020. 

The accident resulted in the death of 17 individuals, while three others received serious injuries. 

August 25 was declared a day of mourning in Georgia due to the accident. 

The detainees may be sentenced to 6-10 years in prison if found guilty.
