Georgia's national basketball team has defeated Ukraine 88-83 in the 2023 FIBA World Cup qualifiers match hosted this evening in the Georgian capital of Tbilisi.
The captain of the Georgian national team Tornike Shengelia who scored 16 points during the match, later said that the game was 'tough,' but the supporters gave his team the energy to win.
It means a lot to me to be able to play in the Georgian national team. Now I have the same motivation that I had in childhood. My main dream was to play for the [national] team, Shengelia told the press after the match.

Georgia is set to hold its next qualifying match against Spain on November 29 at 23:30 Tbilisi time.
