The Georgian Special Penitentiary Service has released another video of former president Mikheil Saakashvili, in which Saakashvili is in an emergency vehicle being taken to Gldani Prison No.18 hospital on Monday, on the 39th day of his hunger strike.
In the video Saakashvili says that he will not leave the emergency vehicle and calls the employees of the Special Penitentiary Service ‘slaves of Ivanishvili (founder of the Georgian Dream ruling party Bidzina Ivanishvili) and Vladimir Putin.’
Saakashvili insults the individuals in the emergency vehicle and says that he will not receive any medical care, while the individuals are trying to calm him down.
We only want you to be healthy,” says one of the individuals, while Saakashvili responds: ‘leave me alone, you are a murderer, Putin’s hangman.’
The opposition representatives stated that the videos released by the Special Penitentiary Service ‘confirm Saakashvili was a victim of inhuman treatment.’
They also stated that the government's actions towards Saakashvili are ‘shameful.’
Georgian Justice Minister Rati Bregadze stated earlier today that the videos were released to dismiss speculations by the opposition and the former president that Saakashvili ‘was abducted’ from Rustavi prison and brought to Gldani prison hospital, ‘where he was attacked by the prison staff.’
Ruling party MP MIkheil Sarjveladze says that Saakashvili’s health was at risk and that is why he was brought to the prison hospital.
He stated that the prison administration had the right to use ‘proportional force’ to take Saakashvili down from the emergency vehicle and bring him to the prison hospitall to ensure proper medical care for him.
