Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili has been invited to participate in the Summit for Democracy organised by US President Joe Biden.
President Biden will host a virtual summit on 9-10 December for government officials, civil society members and private sector representatives.
American media outlet Politico has obtained a list of countries, including Georgia, whose leaders are invited to the summit.
The Administration of the Government of Georgia has confirmed to the Georgian Public Broadcaster that PM Garibashvili will participate in the summit.
The summit will focus on the challenges and opportunities facing democracies and provide a platform for world leaders to discuss democracy and human rights.
Approximately a year after the December 2021 summit, Biden is set to host a second summit to review the progress made in terms of reinforcing world democracies, the US Department of State reports.
