Regular flights to resume between Kutaisi and Mestia

Regular direct flights will resume from Kutaisi to Georgia’s northwest townlet Mestia.
Deputy Minister of Economy of Georgia Mariam Kvrivishvili said that resuming direct flights between Kutaisi and Mestia will benefit the tourism sector in both regions.
Direct flights will help to increase the number of both local and international visitors in both regions… Gladly, our decision [to resume Kutaisi-Mestia flights] comes in accordance with the private sector’s request, as they gave feedback regarding the importance of regular flights a number of times, Kvrivishvili explained.
Kutaisi-Mestia flights, which got cancelled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, will initially be operated once a week, performing flights every Wednesday.
A new terminal has been opened at the airport of the Georgian Black Sea resort town of Batumi that will now be able to serve 1.2 million passengers annually. The expansion of Batumi International Airport was conditioned by the increase of passenger flow, which exceeded 600,000 in 2019.
Iranian Zagros Airlines and Qeshm Airlines are resuming Tehran-Tbilisi-Tehran flights, connecting the capital cities of Georgia and Iran starting this month, the Georgian Civil Aviation Agency announced.
Regular direct flights from Kutaisi International Airport to Barcelona will resume on October 31, while regular flights to Vienna will resume starting November 2, reports United Airports of Georgia.
Kutaisi International Airport in the western Georgian region of Imereti has welcomed travellers from Vilnius, Lithuania for the very first time since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic. The flight was carried out by the Hungarian low cost airline Wizz Air earlier today.
