Georgia is now the latest spot on world map where Inter Academy - an institution by Milan's famed FC Internazionale football club - begins to operate, with young people set to be offered both academic and sports education at the school opening in collaboration with Tbilisi's New Vision University.

The launch project of the academy was promoted in Milan itself, with a banner for Inter Academy Georgia displayed during the Serie A national league game between Inter and Juventus. The Italian Embassy in Tbilisi said the game had been followed by 644 million viewers worldwide.

Aiming to provide both "professional growth for youth with talent for football and develop values associated with the sport", the initiative is also coincided with the diplomatic representation's work to promote Italian diplomacy and Made in Italy campaign across the world, the Embassy said in its release.

Inter Academy Georgia will begin operating soon, using state-of-the-art facilities provided by the university. The project will be overseen by Inter Academy staff, who will monitor the development of local coaches and young athletes alike

On its part, the Italian football club said the move meant an expansion for the Inter Academy project into a new geographical region for the club, and also represented collaborative effort with a local university "that fully shares Inter’s vision for the education of children and young people."

From the Georgian side of the joint project, David Kereselidze, chancellor of New Vision University, said "[w]e can’t wait to have the highly qualified Inter coaches here in Georgia to help support the growth of young footballers in our country."

Located in Tbilisi, the NVU is a "semi-private research university" with partnerships with international educational venues ranging from Kyoto University to Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha. It offers courses through its schools of Law, Business and IT, Politics and Diplomacy, Medicine and Dentistry.
