Georgia is celebrating the founding day of its Defence Ministry on September 9.
Georgian Defence Minister Juansher Burchuladze has announced that the ministry’s employees and defence forces’ military servicemen with 25 or more years of service were awarded cash prizes on the occasion of the anniversary.
Juansher Burchuladze awarded the Georgian Defence Ministry’s civil office employees and servicemen with 20 to 25 years of service with a letter of gratitude,” the ministry reports.

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashivili who served as defence minister from May 2019 till February 2021 stated that he is honoured and proud for his ‘contribution to the formation and progress of the defence forces.’
The Georgian Defence Ministry has gone through a difficult path during these three decades and today, as a result of the great work and dedication of each of its employees, our country has the highest standards of the defence forces’ readiness and modernisation...Georgia has gained high international confidence and the status of a reliable ally for the partnership with tangible progress made by the Defence Ministry,” Garibashvili noted.
The Georgian Defence Ministry was established on September 9, 1991 by the order of the first President of the Republic of Georgia Zviad Gamsakhurdia.
