Covid-19 in Georgia: 676 new cases, 1,441 recoveries, 11 deaths

Georgia has reported 676 new cases of Covid-19 after conducting 19,989 tests over the last 24 hours. Meanwhile, 1,441 individuals have recovered from the virus and 11 others have died.
Out of the new 676 cases 253 were reported in Tbilisi.
- 139 cases were reported in Imereti,
- 72 cases were reported in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti,
- 47 cases were reported in Kakheti,
- 44 cases were reported in Adjara,
- 41 cases were reported in Shida Kartli,
- 29 cases were reported in Kvemo Kartli,
- 20 cases were reported in Samtskhe-Javakheti,
- 14 cases were reported in Guria and Mtskheta-Mtianeti each,
- 3 cases were reported in Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti.
As of now the number of total confirmed cases of coronavirus stands at 257,632 in Georgia, including 248,537 recoveries and 3,159 deaths. 5,910 individuals remain infected with the virus.

Georgian police have meanwhile fined 815 people for violating the coronavirus-related regulations: 127 individuals were fined for breaching self-isolation and quarantine rules, while 688 others were fined for not wearing face masks in public areas.
The Georgian Ministry of Education will allow the parents of school students to choose between in-person and online studies starting February 1.
As the coronavirus pandemic pushes education, healthcare and other public services online and puts huge amounts of personal data in the digital domain, the protection of citizens’ privacy has become an important issue in Georgia.
Police have fined two Covid-infected taxi drivers for violating self-isolation rules in Tbilisi. The Georgian Interior Ministry reported that a taxi driver, identified only as G.P. was fined while driving a car at Tseronisi street, while another taxi driver, identified only as Z.S. was driving a car with a taxi sign at Dadiani street in Tbilisi.
A total of 479 new cases of Covid-19 have been reported in Georgia after 12,700 tests have been conducted over the last 24 hours. The number of active coronavirus cases now stands at 5,879. Georgia has confirmed a total of 258,111 cases of Covid-19 since last February.
Georgia is easing regulations for international travellers to enter the country as well as for the citizens of Georgia who are returning to the country from abroad. When coming to Georgia foreign visitors must present at the border a document that proves that he/she underwent a complete course of coronavirus vaccination. Citizens of all foreign countries who are vaccinated will be able to enter Georgia.
