Police detain 21, including a minor for drug offences in Tbilisi, regions

Police have detained 21 individuals, including a 17-year-old minor, for drug crimes in Tbilisi, Lagodekhi, Marneuli, Rustavi and Batumi today.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) reports that 18 out of the 21 detainees are drug dealers.
The individuals have been detained for the illegal purchase and possession of large quantities of drugs, says the Interior Ministry.

Three out of the 21 detainees were couriers for an organised group of drug dealers operating on social media. They placed drugs at different addresses and contacted clients through the Internet.
During the personal search and search activities held in detainees’ places of residence, the law enforcers seized various types of drugs in especially large quantities, including 8 litters of new psychoactive substance.
The crime is punishable by eight to 20 years in prison or life imprisonment.
Police have arrested 20 drug dealers in various cities of Georgia such as Tbilisi - Ponichala district, Rustavi, Batumi, Kutaisi and Bolnisi municipality in Georgia's eastern Kvemo Kartli region today. The police said that the detainees ‘were systematically selling drugs to citizens.’
Police have detained 10 drug dealers and seized especially large quantities of Heroin during the personal search activities today.
On an average day, crypto-drug transactions worth more than $8,000 are made in Georgia. Similarly, on an average day, illicit substances with a value of over $35,000 are placed in secret locations around the country’s major cities of Tbilisi, Batumi, and Kutaisi, reads the report 'Online markets for illicit drugs in Georgia'.
The Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs has detained seven individuals for online drug trafficking, four are a family of a mother, father and two children.
The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia has filed charges against one individual for attacking a TV Pirveli cameraman and damaging his equipment in Ponichala district in Tbilisi on September 7.
Police have detained five individuals, including a drug dealer in Georgia’s Black Sea region of Adjara today, reports the Interior Ministry. An official statement released by the Interior Ministry reads that four among the five detainees are foreign citizens.
