4,216 new Covid-19 cases, 38 deaths in Georgia

Health authorities have reported 4,216 new confirmed cases in Georgia along with 38 deaths over the past 24 hours.
In the latest update to the daily figures shared by officials, the figure of new cases has been identified through 45,351 tests. The number takes the active cases to 41,275, of which 6,426 individuals are cared for at hospitals.
The numbers also show 606,988 individuals who have received vaccine jabs, with the daily rate of vaccine doses administered standing at 23,231.
In the same 24-hour time span, 1,735 individuals have recovered from the virus in Georgia.
“The bed capacity of intensive care units for Covid-19 patients has reached its limit”, Georgian Health Minister Ekaterine Tikaradze announced earlier today.
Georgia has reported 3,780 new cases of coronavirus earlier today. Currently 38,806 individuals remain infected with Covid-19 in the country.
The Delta variant currently accounts for over 80 per cent of Covid-19 cases in Georgia, while almost 100 per cent of infections recorded in Batumi and Tbilisi are Delta Covid-19 variants, said Deputy Director of the National Centre for Disease Control of Georgia (NCDC) Paata Imnadze earlier today.
Belgium will donate doses of AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine to Georgia through the Covax platform (Covid-19 vaccines Global Access Facility) by the end of 2021, the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced. First 168,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine will be sent to Ukraine and afterwards, 225,600 doses of the vaccine will be delivered to Kosovo, Armenia and Georgia, the Belgian ministry announced.
Georgia has reported 3,344 new Covid-19 cases over the past 24 hours, with 30 deaths and the daily rate of vaccine jabs of 19,355.
Georgia's prime minister Irakli Garibashvili received his Covid-19 vaccine dose on Sunday, opting for a Pfizer jab in Tbilisi while also urging his fellow citizens to vaccinate.
