Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Graibashvili encourages the students studying abroad to return to Georgia after they graduate from their respective universities.

PM Garibashvili has met with the scholarship holders and graduates of the International Education Centre (IEC), a Government funded body responsible for issuing scholarships to study abroad, which was established by the initiative of Garibashvili back in 2014.

All of us travel, some of us go abroad to stay, gain experience, but we should all return to our homeland, because this country belongs to you, our future generations”, Irakli Garibashvili said.

He then noted that after the collapse of the Soviet Union many young people went abroad, ‘which is a great loss for us as a country, because their potential is not used to strengthen Georgia’.

Stating that several dozens of millions have been spent to support youth education efforts abroad, PM Garibashvili promised that the number of students receiving the state support will double in coming years.

Established in 2014, the International Education Centre issues state scholarships to students in different fields to improve the quality of the country’s workforce via quality education.

Therefore, once  the students complete their studies abroad they are required to return to Georgia and spend at least three years working in their home country.
