Ruling Georgian Dream party receives most donations in last three month of all political parties

The ruling Georgian Dream party has received the most donations of all political parties from May till today which amounted to 230,000 GEL (about $73,725/€62,090), the Georgian State Audit Office reports.
Former Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia’s political party For Georgia, which was launched on May 29, 2021, has received 219,516 GEL (about $70,364/€59,259) in the last three months. Among the party’s donors are MPs and For Georgia members.
The opposition party Lelo for Georgia had two donors over the last three months and their donations amounted to 33,030 GEL (about $10,587/€8,916).
The biggest opposition party United National Movement (UNM) received 26,660 GEL (about $8,545/€7,197) from May till today.

Local municipal elections in Georgia will take place in October of 2021.
The Georgian Dream ruling party has launched preparations for municipal elections which will take place in the autumn of this year, party officials have stated today, after a meeting at the party headquarters in central Tbilisi.
The International Republican Institute (IRI) has released the results of a nationwide poll which revealed that 75 per cent of Georgians are very likely to vote in the upcoming municipal elections. 25 per cent of the voters who are not likely to participate in the local elections say that they ‘do not have confidence in the electoral process.’
A number of opposition parties have put forward the United National Movement chair Nika Melia for the post of Tbilisi mayor, while Droa movement leader Elene Khoshtaria has been put forward for the City Council (Sakrebulo) chair for the upcoming municipal elections in October.
Georgian Dream ruling party has officially named Kakha Kaladze, Mayor of Tbilisi, as its candidate for a second term in the position, ahead of the municipal elections set to be held in October.
Former Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia, who now chairs the For Georgia political union, said at the party’s launch presentation earlier today that ‘we unite for Georgia, but not against anybody’. Stating that his team will be actively involved in political processes, Gakharia said Georgia now needs a political party which can ‘look the truth in the eyes’ and speak up about the challenges the country is facing nowadays, instead of living in illusions.
The ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party says based on its polls that they will receive 46.3 per cent of votes in the October 2 municipal elections. The party political council member Shalva Papuashvili stated earlier today that the Georgian Dream ruling party candidate for Tbilisi mayor Kakha Kaladze will receive 66.2 per cent of votes in the elections, while his major opponent from the United National Movement party Nika Melia 33.8 per cent of votes.
The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Georgia has called on voters to check their personal details on the website voters.cec.gov.ge as the deadline for making changes is 6 p.m. on October 14.
