Police have detained two individuals for attacking Formula TV photographer Vakho Kareli while performing his professional duties during the Tbilisi pride counter rally on July 5.
The Interior Ministry has announced earlier today that two individuals, identified only as G.G. and G.KH., were detained for ‘unlawful interference with a photographer's professional activities under the threats of violence and for participating in group violence’.
As a result of the attack Vakho Kareli received a concussion.

Journalists of various media outlets have held rallies in Tbilisi and Batumi before the start of the Batumi International Conference , stating that they will be in danger while Irakli Garibashvili is the Prime Minister of Georgia.
Over 200 media representatives have called on the General Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia to launch an investigation into the violence against dozens of journalists by right-wing activists at the Tbilisi Pride counter rally on July 5.

Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili has released a statement following today's events in the capital city of Tbilisi in which she condemns the violence and persecution of people on the basis of difference of opinion, sexuality or gender identity.
