Police have detained a 34-year-old man for the violent attack on a Public Broadcaster cameraman at the Tbilisi Pride march counter rally on July 5.
The investigation established that the detainee verbally and physically assaulted the cameraman while performing his professional duties on Rustaveli Avenue.
A total of 28 individuals have been arrested for ‘unlawful interference with the journalist’s professional activities under the threats of violence, persecution under violence, or threat of violence and group violence,’ reports the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
55 people have been injured at the Tbilisi Pride counter rally on July 5 by right-wing protesters, 53 of them are journalists.
Currently, 46 people have been granted victim status, 40 of them are journalists.
