Two young Georgian inventors were honoured at the annual Italian Innovation and Research Day on Thursday, with an occasion in Tbilisi unveiling prospects for their future opportunities.
Held in homage to legendary Italian polymath Leonardo da Vinci, the event was hosted at Georgia's Innovation and Technology Agency (GITA) in the capital, with Italy's ambassador to Georgia Enrico Valvo and Georgia's deputy economy minister Irakli Nadareishvili presenting the prizes.
The two innovators have been selected for the embassy's STEM Study Visit competition, run between the GITA and Italy's COTEC Foundation for Innovation.
As part of the selection, they will be hosted at Spici - an international accelerator and entrepreneurship centre at the University of Naples Technological Pole.
The two recipients of the award will also receive "further opportunities" in their field of work after the visit, the embassy said in summary of the event that was livestreamed on social media.
Beside the awards ceremony the occasion at the GITA - a venue launched to help Georgian inventors commercialise their products - also involved a talk bringing Georgian and Italian tech innovators together.
