Georgian Health Minister Ekaterine Tikaradze has tested positive for coronavirus. Employees of the ministry with whom Tikaradze had contact during the last days have moved to self-isolation.
Tikaradze received the first dose of AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine live on TV on March 23, 2021.
She received the jab at Sachkhere hospital in western Georgia.
The press office of the Ministry of Health says Tikaradze feels well and will stay home to fight the disease.
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili has tested positive for coronavirus. The prime minister’s press office says Garibashvili feels well, is in self-isolation at home and continues to work remotely.

Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia has tested positive for coronavirus. The prime minister’s press office says Gakharia feels well and will stay home to fight the disease. The news follows his announcement yesterday via Facebook that he had gone into self-isolation after one of his security guards tested positive for coronavirus the day before.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) has approved the second Chinese Sinovac vaccine for emergency use in all countries, giving the green light for this vaccine to be rolled out globally, including in Georgia.
Georgia has reported 705 new cases of coronavirus, 1,128 recoveries and 14 deaths in the past 24 hours. 33,253 tests were conducted around the country in the past 24 hours. 19,138 of the 33,253 tests were rapid tests, while the remaining 14,115 were PCR tests. The country has had 351,954 cases of coronavirus since February 26, 2020. 2.75 per cent of tested individuals had Covid-19 in the past 14 days.
Georgia has reported 695 new cases of coronavirus, 797 recoveries and 16 deaths in the past 24 hours. 37,842 tests were conducted around the country in the past 24 hours. 23,931 of the 37,842 tests were rapid tests, while the remaining 13,911 were PCR tests. The country has had 352,649 cases of coronavirus since February 26, 2020. 2.67 per cent of tested individuals had Covid-19 in the past 14 days.
Georgian Minister of Health Ekaterine Tikaradze has announced her resignation at a briefing at the ruling Georgian Dream party headquarters in Tbilisi today. Tikaradze said she will 'further strengthen the Georgian health and social protection services from the Georgian Dream party political council'.
