Young woman who contacted coronavirus during pregnancy dies

A 34-year old woman who contracted coronavirus during the 29-30 week of pregnancy died late yesterday in Bokeria medical centre in Tbilisi.
Her newborn child also died a few days before her death.
Doctors say that the women addressed the clinic in mid-April with Covid-positive status and suffered shortness of breath.
Initially she was placed at a gynecology department of the medical centre.
However, her condition worsened on April 22 and she was placed in the intensive care unit and was transferred to artificial ventilation because of the serious damage of lungs.
The condition of the fetus also deteriorated and the gynecologists decided to perform an emergency caesarean section in order to save the fetus. We also transferred the newborn to artificial ventilation. However, in a few days the baby died,” said the doctors.
They say that the woman had been on dialysis since April 27.
According to media reports the woman did not have chronic diseases.
Georgia has reported 707 new cases of coronavirus, 592 recoveries and eight deaths over the last 24 hours. As of now the number of total confirmed cases of Covid-19 stands at 288,396 in Georgia.This includes 277,303 recoveries, 3,877 deaths and 7,190 active cases of the infection.
A week following Orthodox Easter on May 4-11 has been declared public holiday in Georgia to curb the possible spread of the coronavirus. The interagency commission led by Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili has also given out the recommendation to employers to move to remote work.
Georgian health officials have warned of a potential third wave of coronavirus in the country if individuals refuse to receive the vaccine and act in line with recommendations.
Georgia has reported 1,547 new cases of coronavirus, 1,131 recoveries and 18 deaths in the past 24 hours. 25,541 tests have been conducted around the country on the weekend. 14,212 of the 25,541 tests were rapid tests, while the remaining 11,329 were PCR tests. The country has had 319,226 cases of coronavirus since February 26, 2020. 5.66 per cent of tested individuals had Covid-19 in the past 14 days.298,807 of the 319,226 patients have recovered, while 4,245 have died from the virus.
Georgia has reported 1,564 new cases of Covid-19 after conducting a total of 27,384 tests over the last 24 hours. Meanwhile, 693 individuals have recovered from coronavirus in Georgia while 18 patients have died.
