The Georgian National Communications Commission has approved rules and obligations for both internet service provider companies and the owners of websites to protect children from harmful content on the internet.

The decision will come into force from June 1, 2020.

By that time, parents will have the possibility to ask internet service provider companies to block access to websites which may be harmful for their children.

Internet service provider companies have already been asked to create such a mechanism.

Moreover, website owners will be obliged to define the age of their consumers and mark the website with that sign.

The Georgian National Communications Commission will create a list of websites which are harmful for children and the list will be upgraded once a week. The commission will also monitor websites and how they fulfil their obligations.
