The Georgian Ministry of Education has issued a new order which specifies the amount of credits medical students must take per year to graduate.

The new requirements of 60 ECTS credits per year can be found at edu.aris.ge. The website also specifies that the duration of studies must be six years (12 semesters).

Although the duration of the physician programme after 2018 was strictly defined as six years, the Higher Education Credit Calculation Rule allowed for the accumulation of 75 credits per year, which caused ambiguity", reads the website.

Now the new order directly obliges higher education institutions to offer six-year medical programmes and only after the expiration of this period to allow students to graduate.
