The Evaluation Commission of European Olympic Committee has visited Georgia’s mountainous resort Bakuriani today in order to evaluate its resources for hosting the 2025 Winter Youth Olympic Games.
The committee members explored potential locations of the competition and all the necessary infrastructure, including ski-lifts.
Peter Brull, the Head of the European Olympic Committee, noted that Georgia has all the resources to successfully host the winter youth festival, which has been becoming more and more popular in Europe.
The European Olympic Committee officially confirmed the candidate status of the ski resort Bakuriani in December 2019.
Georgia already has experience in holding such high level events, including the Tbilisi 2015 Olympic Youth European Festival.
