Georgian Health Minister Ekaterine Tikaradze has stated in parliament today that social workers, who evaluate the social-economic conditions of families in Georgia, will be equipped with cameras ‘for more transparency and fairness in the provision of state funding for poor families.’
She said that the cameras will prevent the partiality of social workers and ‘help avoid systemic mistakes.’
Tikaradze spoke about the proposed changes to the government-led health insurance programme, offering equal state funding for all clinics involved in the programme, stating that the changes were proposed ‘after consultations with the clinics’ which now oppose the changes.
She says that the consultations with the clinics which say that the funding offered by the government is too low will continue.

Decisions will be made based on the interests of our people, to encourage higher-level medical services,” Tikaradze said.
She promised that the government will take steps to ensure lower price and higher quality of medicines in the country.
Tikaradze says that the Georgia government is taking all measures to prevent the spread of the new, China-born coronavirus in the country.
The opposition has criticized Tikaradze for the proposed changes in the state health insurance programme, stating that the changes will decrease the quality of medical services and affect people.
