Out of 1,398,434 vehicles inspected in Georgia in 2019, 50 per cent failed inspection, show data from the Ministry of Economy.
Out of the total number of inspected vehicles, 691,619 passed inspection, 704,711 failed inspection, and 2,104 have been banned from use on roads.
Mandatory vehicle inspections started in Georgia on January 1, 2018. Heavy goods vehicles (+ 3.5 tonnes) and passenger vehicles (+8 seats) were inspected during this first stage.
The next round of inspections started on July 1, 2018 and was undertaken for vehicles belonging to state agencies and legal entities.
Since January 1, 2019, inspections are mandatory for all Georgian vehicles.
