Lithuanian MEP Andrius Kubilius told Georgian Imedi TV channel that 'Georgia is making really strong progress in European integration, along with its democratic development'.

In the European Parliament, we are always very much in solidarity with the Georgian people and always wish Georgian people great success...The upcoming elections are very important. We hope that Georgia, the Georgian people and the Georgian authorities will show and prove that Georgia is really making great progress", said Kubilius.

Kubilius wished 'great success' to Georgia and said that he is waiting for the parliamentary elections that will be held in Georgia on October 31.

The 2020 parliamentary elections will be held in a different manner: 120 seats in parliament will be distributed based on the votes received in proportional elections, while remaining 30 per the votes received in majoritarian elections (instead of the 76/73 electoral system).

Spots in parliament in the proportional elections will be won by parties and election blocs which receive at least one per cent of the vote.

Blocs will be allowed in the 2020 elections. However, with a different election threshold. The percentage of votes received by election blocs must at least amount to  one per cent x number of the parties in the bloc.
