Young film director Ana Urushadze, who earned international plaudits for her debut work Scary Mother, is pitching her second feature Supporting Role at the ongoing CineLink industry section of the Sarajevo Film Festival.

She is pitching the work-in-progress film - which received support from the Georgian National Film Centre - to industry professionals as part of over 40 projects presented at the platform between August 15-20.

The script of the feature sees an elderly cinema actor whose is reassigned from an appealing character into a role of an old man set to commit suicide in the plot. Unhappy with the development at first, he eventually develops an unexpected appreciation with the new cast.

[The protagonist] starts sensing something he has missed for years, the magic pull, and takes a path that will lead him to transformation," a summary from Film New Europe said about the plot.

Supporting Role is a co-production between Georgia and Estonia with producers Davit Tsintsadze of Zaza Films and Ivo Felt of Allfilm involved in the collaboration respectively. They are looking to meet potential co-producers and sales agents at the Sarajevo festival's platform. Filming for the feature is set to take place in the Georgian capital next year.

Urushadze made her breakthrough with her very first film work, Scary Mother, in 2017. Premiering at the Locarno International Film Festival, the work received First Feature Award at the Swiss event for the debuting director.

The film's subsequent run included recognition from the Sarajevo Film Festival and the Beijing International Film Festival, among other selections.
