Three new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in Georgia on Saturday, with all of the new infections revealed in individuals who entered the country.
In a daily brief to reporters Marina Ezugbaia, Director of Tbilisi Hospital of Infectious Diseases said two of the imported cases were identified in transit truck drivers crossing the border.
The new figures bring the number of infections since the start of the outbreak in the spring to 1,216 and the number of patients who recovered after treatment to 996 - an 82 percent recovery rate.
The latest update also shows 241 patients with the virus still under treatment, with Ezugbaia assessing their condition between "average" and "milder than average".
Georgia has reported seven new cases of the coronavirus earlier today. Five of the seven new patients have had contact with infected individuals, one case is imported, while the remaining one individual does not know how he contracted the virus. Since February 26, 2020 Georgia has had 1,213 cases of the coronavirus. 994 of the 1,213 patients have recovered, while 17 others have died.As of today 202 people, who contracted the virus in the country, remain infected with the COVID-19.
Georgian schools and universities will reopen on September 15, depending the epidemiological situation in the country. Head of the National Disease Control Centre (NCDC) Amiran Gamkrelidze stated that there will be safety measures for schools and universities in order to prevent the risk of spreading virus.
Georgian Economy Minister Natia Turnava stated today that there is a will to resume flights with Greece but flight confirmation has not been issued yet.
Head of the Georgian National Centre for Disease Control Amiran Gamkrelidze says that patients with the coronavirus are exhibiting less serious symptoms and manifestations of the disease than in March and April, and that the number of severe cases has decreased.
Nine new confirmed cases of coronavirus infection have been identified in Georgia on Sunday, with origins of one of the cases unknown and two revealed in health workers.
Georgia has reported 25 new cases of the coronavirus earlier today, bringing the total number of cases to 1,250. 1,010 of the 1,250 patients have recovered, while 17 others have died. As of today 223 individuals remain infected with COVID-19 in Georgia who tested positive for the coronavirus in the country. Adding to the 223 active infections, there are 38 other COVID-19 patients in the country who tested positive for the coronavirus abroad and were transported to the homeland.
