The Georgian Prosecutor’s Office has charged the son of deceased Prime Minister Zurab Zhvania with the attempted murder of Levan Topadze, a grandson of former MP and businessman Gogi Topadze.

The Prosecutor’s Office says that Busa Zhvania stabbed Topadze in his own home on August 2.

The Prosecutor’s Office states that they will appeal to the court to send Zhvania to pretrial detention.

Zhvania, who also suffers from a light wound, is undergoing treatment in hospital.

Topadze, with four wounds, was operated on and his health condition is satisfactory, doctors say.

If found guilty Zhvania may be sentenced to seven to 15 years in prison.

Gogi Topadze said that Zhvania ‘must be held accountable.’

The motive has not been identified by officials so far. However, Gogi Topadze mentioned it could have happened because of a woman.

The Georgian media outlets report that the confrontation between Topadze and Zhvania started  because of a girl, at a festival in Mtatsminda district of central Tbilisi where Topadze appeared with Zhvania’s ex-girlfriend.
