Pandemic professionals to test hundreds at Tbilisi's Eliava market

Professionals from the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) are working at the Eliava Market in Tbilisi's Didube District, one of the larger market areas in the capital, to conduct hundreds of tests as pandemic prevention.
Starting on Sunday, NCDC workers have been designated areas in the administrative offices of the market to set up testing facilities, as preventive measures are aimed at the sprawling open market.
Two rooms will be used by the medical professionals to take about 500 samples a day from those dealing at the market and send them for analysis in the Centre for Public Health Research, also known as the Lugar Centre.
At the laboratory the samples will be tested using the PCR technology for COVID-19 traces.
Georgia's pandemic response agencies reported six new confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, with half of them imported from abroad.

Georgia has reported just two new cases of the coronavirus earlier today, bringing the total number of cases to 1,179. 959 of the 1,179 patients have recovered, while 17 others have died. As of today 203 people remain infected with COVID-19 in the country. One of the two new patients had contact with an infected individual and was under quarantine, while the remaining one does not know how he contracted the virus.
Head of the Georgian National Centre for Disease Control Amiran Gamkrelidze says that patients with the coronavirus are exhibiting less serious symptoms and manifestations of the disease than in March and April, and that the number of severe cases has decreased.
Georgia has reported 15 new cases of the coronavirus earlier today. Six of the 15 new cases were reported in the Adjara region of western Georgia. Four of the six new patients in Adjara had contact with infected individuals, while the remaining two are Turkish citizens who will undergo treatment in Turkey. Four of the 15 new patients are from Gachiani settlement of Gardabani municipality, three cases are imported, one is a medical personnel, four patients have had contact with infected individuals, while the remaining three individuals do not know how they contacted the virus.
Georgia has reported nine new cases of the coronavirus earlier today. Seven of the nine new cases are imported (two of them are truck drivers).
