Georgia has confirmed eight new cases for the new coronavirus on Saturday, with the figure for active cases sitting at 115 and deaths at 15 in the country.
The new figure takes the total number of cases in the country since the start of the outbreak to 981, with 851 successful recoveries.
The number does not include 28 Georgian Defence Forces servicemembers testing positive for the virus while on peacekeeping duty in Afghanistan on Friday. The soldiers have been transported back to Georgia by the Ministry of Defence.
The government has kept land borders closed but aims to reopen travel to Germany, France, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia starting in August. The countries have also reopened their borders for travel from Georgia.
Over 134,000 people have been tested for COVID-19 in Georgia since the first confirmed case on February 26.
