EU Ambassador to Georgia Carl Hartzell welcomes the decision of the Council of the European Union with regards to including Georgia in the list of 15 countries to which the EU will be reopening its borders gradually starting today.

Naming Georgia among 15 safe countries is congratulatory, and represents recognition of the vast work carried out by Georgia during the last several months in struggle and against COVID-19", Hartzell said at the meeting with the First Deputy Foreign Minister of Georgia Vakhtang Makharoblishvili today.

This is a real asset for Georgia, which it must rely on, but at the same time, it is clear that we demand from all sides to continue to work tirelessly. We will work tirelessly with the ministry and various ministries to ensure the full realisation of this potential", he continued.

On June 30, the Council of the European Union approved a list of so-called green countries and Georgia is among the countries to which the EU will be opening its borders starting July 1.
