Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia said the EU’s decision to include Georgia in the list of ‘green countries’ is ‘yet more proof’ of close partnership.
Calling it an ‘important achievement’ Gakharia said ‘it is the recognition of the success’ of Georgia, Georgian people and its government in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

Gakharia said now the Georgian officials will continue active consultations with each EU-member state to ensure safety of flights for Georgian citizens.
On behalf of the Georgian people I would like to thank the EU for its recognition, trust and strategic partnership”, Gakharia wrote on Facebook.
Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani also noted that the EU’s decision to reopen its skies to Georgian citizens builds up Georgia’s image ‘as one of the world's safest countries’.

EU Ambassador to Georgia Carl Hartzell welcomed Georgia’s inclusion among 15 countries to which the European Union will reopen its borders tomorrow, on July 1. Congratulating Georgia Hartzell said this is 'further recognition' of its 'hard and successful work' in fighting with COVID-19.
Domestic tourism resumes today in Georgia, while the country will open its doors to international tourists on July 1. Railway travel also resumes today. Georgian Railway officials say the company is ready to ensure the safe transportation of passengers and to implement the regulations imposed by the Ministry of Health of Georgia.
Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia said the country is “a green island of peace in terms of containing the coronavirus pandemic. However, to preserve this, all citizens must demonstrate even more public responsibility in their daily activities. As of June 13, Georgia has confirmed a total of 851 cases of COVID-19, including the eight new cases.
The Georgian capital of Tbilisi has been named the safest place to travel in Europe in 2020 amongst the cities selected by European Best Destinations, a travel website developed to promote culture and tourism in Europe.
Georgia has reported three new cases of the coronavirus earlier today, bringing the total number of cases to 931. 795 of the 931 patients have recovered, while 15 others have died. As of today 122 people remain infected with COVID-19 in Georgia. Georgia reported its first case of the coronavirus on February 26, 2020. Since then 106, 509 individuals have been tested for the coronavirus. Georgia continues to maintain a low infection rate and has plans to hold October parliamentary elections and open schools in September in a regular manner.
EU Ambassador to Georgia Carl Hartzell welcomes the decision of the Council of the European Union with regards to including Georgia in the list of 15 countries to which the EU will be reopening its borders gradually starting today.
Georgia has reported eight new cases of the coronavirus earlier today, bringing the total number of cases to 939.817 of the 939 patients have recovered, while 15 others have died. As of today 107 people remain infected with COVID-19 in the country. Georgia has had two or three new cases of the coronavirus over the past several days. The country reported its first case of the coronavirus on February 26, 2020.
Georgian citizens traveling to Latvia will not have to be placed under mandatory quarantine on arrival. They also do not need to be tested for the coronavirus. However, this will not apply to Georgian citizens traveling to Latvia from so-called ‘red countries’ where the pandemic is still raging.
Georgian citizens and residents of the country will no longer be asked to undergo a mandatory 14-day quarantine on arrival in Lithuania.
