Georgia reports two new cases of coronavirus, 120 remain infected with COVID-19

Head of the Georgian National Centre for Disease Control Amiran Gamkrelidze said, the 86-year-old Georgian citizen, who suffered from several underlying illnesses, had arrived from one of Georgia’s neighbouring countries.

Regular international flights will not resume in Georgia until August 1, announces the Georgian Civil Aviation Agency. The Civil Aviation Agency calls on citizens not to buy tickets until the exact date of the resumption of international flights is not announced by 'official sources'. Earlier today the Economy Minister of Georgia Natia Turnava announced that the ban on regular flights may be extended until the end of July.

Georgia has reported no new cases of the coronavirus over the past 24 hours. The country has had 879 cases of the coronavirus since February 26, 2020. 724 of the 879 patients have recovered, while 14 others have died. As of today 141 people remain infected with COVID-19 in Georgia. Head of Georgia’s National Centre for Disease Control Amiran Gamkrelidze stated yesterday that  the academic year will begin in September and the parliamentary elections will be held in October without any problems if Georgia maintains the current rate of infection.

A fourteenth individual died in Georgia from coronavirus-related complications last night. The condition of the 68-year-old man, who suffered from several underlying illnesses including diabetes, had been assessed by doctors as critical.

A total of 1,068 residents of the Georgian capital city of Tbilisi took part in a research conducted by Tbilisi Infectious Disease Hospital and 10 residents were found to have coronavirus antibodies, reports Tbilisi Infectious Disease Hospital.

All individuals who will enter Georgia will have to spend two weeks in quarantine.Georgia is maintaining the measure to contain the spread of the coronavirus, head of Georgia’s National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) Amiran Gamkrelidze stated earlier today. 

Georgia has reported just two new cases of the coronavirus earlier today, bringing the total number of cases to 928. 794 of the 928 patients have recovered, while 15 others have died. As of today 119 people remain infected with COVID-19. Georgia reported its first case of the coronavirus on February 26, 2020. Since then more than 101,000 people have been tested for the coronavirus.
