A leading Japanese newspaper Nikkei published a list of top popular products of 2020, naming Georgian traditional dish Shkmeruli as No. 2 on the list.
The world ‘Shkmeruli’ is among the four most frequently searched words on Yahoo search in Japan, Embassy of Georgia to Japan announced on its Facebook page.

Meanwhile, Matsubara Foods company is planning to sell instant meal packets of Shkmeruli on the local market starting June 30.
The packets will have the photos of the Georgian flag and views of Tbilisi and says that Georgia is the homeland of wine, while Georgian people are famous for their hospitality.
The government of Japan is financing the implementation of four new projects worth half a million US dollars in Georgia, announces the Embassy of Japan in Georgia. Georgia and Japan signed the agreement in March 2020.
The Embassy of Japan to Georgia has gifted Japanese cherry (Sakura) saplings to different Georgian universities today.
