Four contemporary artists from Georgia are presented to viewers of this year's New Art Dealers Alliance (NADA) FAIR, with the brand-new initiative aiming to provide a remote platform for galleries and creatives.
Tbilisi-based Gallery ArtBeat is bringing Maka Batiashvili, Irakli Bugiani, Tamo Jugeli and Maia Naveriani to the display that launched on Wednesday and is scheduled to run over the next month.
Structured in a programme running over four separate weeks, the fair involves over 150 participating galleries bringing their showcased talent to viewers.
FAIR offers an alternative profit-sharing model, structured to facilitate mutual support within the art community and provide revenue to each of its participants during a time in which galleries have temporarily closed their physical locations," a preview for the fair said.
Project ArtBeat is in the roster alongside the likes of New York's Participant Inc, i8 from Reykjavik, Mexico-based Galería Mascota and Exo Exo of Paris.
The artists introduced by the Georgian-based platform have in recent years featured at shows including ArtVilnius’17 (where Maka Batiashvili was presented by Project ArtBeat), 2019 edition of Art Dubai (where works by Irakli Bugiani were displayed), Beijing International Art Biennial (with works by Maia Naveriani present among a group of creatives) and NADA Miami fair, where Tamo Jugeli was under spotlight.
The FAIR initiative was launched not only in the digital format due to social distancing guidelines but also with the aim of running in cooperative fashion and to benefit the NADA community of exhibition spaces, creatives and nonprofits.
Proceeds from the FAIR will be used to support over 100 galleries that are members of the NADA collective as well as over 80 other galleries affected by the pandemic.
