Occupation forces erect new barriers, replace old barbed-wire fences near occupied Abkhazia

Russian-controlled occupation forces have erected new barriers and replaced old barbed-wire fences near the village of Khurcha, close to the occupied Abkhazia region of western Georgia, the Georgian State Security Service has reported earlier today.
“The hot line has been activated and the European Union Monitoring Mission has been informed regarding the illegality,” the agency said.
Four years ago in the village, a Russian-controlled-border guard brutally killed Giga Otkhoziria.
State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality of Georgia Ketevan Tsikhelashvili said the safety of the population in the Russian-occupied region of Abkhazia is the key priority amid current tension there.
Russian Foreign Ministry has responded to the current tension in Georgia’s occupied Abkhazia region and urged the de facto government and the opposition to negotiate for peace.
Four years have passed since the brutal murder of Georgian citizen Giga Otkhozoria by Russian-controlled border guards in the village of Khurcha, near Georgia’s western Russian-occupied region of Abkhazia.
Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia has stated that ‘peace and talks” with Georgia's Russian-occupied Abkhazia region are “critically important,” responding to the recent statement of ‘Abkhaz opposition leader’ Aslan Bzhania, who is running in the region’s de facto presidential elections on March 22.
The European Court of Human Rights on Tuesday found Russia responsible for the murder of Giga Otkhozoria, a 30-year-old Georgian citizen who was killed by a Russian-controlled “border guard” near the country’s Russian-occupied Abkhazia region in 2016.
