Georgia’s Russian-occupied regions of Abkhazia and Tskhinvali have been listed as separate countries for registration on Chinese video-sharing social network Tik Tok.

The Georgian Foreign Ministry has responded to the issue and says that protecting the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity is a top priority for the ministry.

We are working on the issue. The Georgian Foreign Ministry always responds to cases when Georgia's Russian-occupied regions are referred to as independent units. There are a number of examples, when as a result of our intervention, the wrong definition used on various websites regarding the occupied territories, has been changed”, says the press office of the ministry.

RFE/RL reports that Georgian Ambassador to China Archil Kalandia has held several meetings in China regarding the issue.

It turned out that this inaccuracy is only in the English-language version of Tik Tok”, Vladimir Konstantinidi, a representative of the Georgian Foreign Ministry stated.
