7,988 Georgian citizens returned home, 15,393 supported abroad amid coronavirus pandemic

Georgian diplomatic representations have supported a total of 15,393 Georgian citizens abroad, while 7,988 of them have been brought to Georgia amid the coronavirus pandemic as of April 27, says the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Georgian citizens will be brought from Warsaw, Poland today. Among the passengers of the flight, there are minors, expectant women, students and people with serious illnesses.

Additional special flights will be carried out to evacuate Georgians from foreign countries according to the following schedule:

  • April 30 – Madrid 
  • May 2 – Prague
  • May 5 – Athens 
  • May 7 – Amsterdam 
  • May 9 – Berlin

Georgia has already carried out special flights to evacuate its citizens from different cities including Berlin, Vienna, London, Athens, Amsterdam, Larnaca, Beijing, Rome, Paris, Tel Aviv and Barcelona.

Out of the Georgian citizens who returned to the country amid the coronavirus pandemic, 4,525 were brought by special flights, 3,177 by vehicles and 286 by ferry.

Georgian citizens who are abroad and want to return to the country have to fill a special electronic application, which is available on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and on the websites of the diplomatic missions of Georgia.

Citizens that will come back to Georgia will be placed in 14-day quarantine.

The flights will be carried out by the national flag carrier Georgian Airways, and ticket price will not exceed €199.
