The volume of money transfers to Georgia in December 2019 was $172.3 million, which is a 14.2 per cent increase compared to December 2018, announces the National Bank of Georgia.
More than one-third of money transfers came in from the European Union:
- EU countries - $65.15 million (37.82%)
- Other countries - $107.12 million (62.18%)
The largest countries from which money transfers entered Georgia were the following:
- Russia - $43.82 million (25.44%)
- Italy – $23.84 million (13.84%)
- Greece – $19.6 million (11.38%)
- US – $16.51 million (9.59%)
- Israel – $14.55 million (8.45%)
- Turkey – $8.31 million (4.82%)
$25.5 million was transferred from Georgia to foreign countries in December 2019, which is 17.7 per cent more than it was in December 2018.
