EU-supported hackathon calls on innovators to develop ideas to address socio-economic crisis

The European Commission will provide up to €75,000 (256,005 GEL) to the Global Hack, an online hackathon which aims to rapidly develop ideas for urgently needed solutions in the current coronavirus pandemic. 

During the hackathon, participants including scientists, tech enthusiasts and others throughout the world will develop their ideas to address the ongoing socio-economic crisis amid COVID-19 pandemic and to support recovery in the aftermath.

Experts in their fields, scientists, tech enthusiasts, business leaders, project managers, marketing experts, designers, and innovators from the Eastern partner countries and across the world are all invited to take part in the Global Hack, which will take place completely online between 9-12 April”, reads the official statement of the Global Hack.

The official statement reads that the online hackathon will showcase emerging solutions that can demonstrate how digital innovations can be leveraged to connect local neighborhoods and help people facing the greatest vulnerabilities

The total prize pool for the best ideas is €100,000 (341,340 GEL).

Those interested can assemble a team of six-12 people who are dedicated to an idea.  Through the reddit page, anyone can post ideas for feedback of other users and find partners.
