Multimodal transit terminal opens in Georgia’s Black Sea Batumi port

A multimodal transit terminal has opened in Georgia’s Black Sea Batumi port today, announces the Ministry of Economy of Georgia.

The new logistics facility, located on two hectares of land, was set up by the joint efforts of Batumi International Container Terminal and Medlog Georgia.

Georgian Economy Minister Giorgi Kobulia, who participated in the opening ceremony of the multimodal transit terminal, said that this is another “wonderful” project, which will contribute to the development Georgia’s transit potential.

Kobulia said that this project will help “our exporter companies” have better access to international markets.

We are talking about not only the development of warehousing, but also communications; the development of the railway as well as the motorway leading to the port; deepening the port dock. This will enable us to increase the capacity of the container terminal by 100%”, said Kobulia.

Kobulia added that the project will contribute to the economic development of not only Adjara region, but the whole country.
