Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is expected to visit Georgia in May of 2020, Georgian Ambassador to Turkey Giorgi Janjgava stated earlier today.
He said that the recent visit of Georgian PM Giorgi Gakharia to Turkey was “particularly fruitful,” leading to the first meeting of the Georgian-Turkish economic commission after a 14-year delay.
We have agreed that the Turkish-Georgia Strategic Council meeting will take place in February 2020 in Ankara, while the President Erdogan is very likely to visit Georgia in May,” Janjgava said.
He stated that the president’s visit is expected to give way to new projects and formats and the increase of bilateral trade to three billion USD, as well as the export of Georgian products.
Today Georgia is a hosting a trilateral meeting of Georgian, Turkish and Azerbaijani foreign ministers.
The Georgian PM and foreign minister have already held meetings with the Turkish FM.
