The EuroNest Parliamentary Assembly, which is composed of 110 parliamentarians from around the globe, has demanded the immediate release of a well-known Georgian doctor Vazha Gaprindashvili, abducted by Russian-controlled occupation forces one month ago.

During the session in Tbilisi the EuroNest PA has urged the international community to take all measures for the release of the doctor.

The EuroNest PA has reiterated its support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

In her speech on December 9 Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili urged the EuroNest PA to join Georgia in its efforts to make the Russian-controlled occupation forces release the doctor.

Earlier the same day the family of Gaprindashvili called upon the participants of the Geneva International Discussions to take all measures today to achieve the release of the doctor.

Georgian PM’s Special Representative in Relations with Russia Zurab Abashidze and Georgian Minister for Reconciliation and Civil Equality Ketevan Tsikhelashvili say that the Georgian government has used all levers for the release of the doctor and it  has been the top issue raised at all local and international meetings over the past month.

Abashidze has expressed hope that “we will receive a concrete answer on the issue [on when the doctor will be released] during the Geneva International Discussions” on December 10-11.
