In the third quarter (Q3) of 2019 the unemployment rate in Georgia decreased by 1.1 per cent compared to the same period of last year and amounted to 11.1 per cent, show data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).
In Q3 of 2019 the economically active population was made up by 62.5 per cent of the working age population (population aged 15 and older).
In comparison to the same period of 2018, the economic activity rate decreased by 1.8 per cent, while the employment rate decreased by 0.9 per cent.
In urban settlements the employment rate decreased by 0.7 per cent, while in rural settlements it decreased by 1 per cent.

The economic activity rate was higher for men than for women. In Q3 of 2019, the activity rate for women was 54.2 per cent, while it was 71.9 per cent for men.
