In Q3 2020 the unemployment rate in Georgia increased by 0.7 per cent compared to the same period of last year and amounted to 11.9 per cent, show data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).
In Q3 2020 the economically active population was made up by 60.8 per cent of the working age population (population aged 15 and older).

The unemployment rate is much lower in rural than in urban settlements.
The unemployment rate in rural areas amounted to 4.8 per cent, while it was 18.8 in urban areas.
In Q3 2020 the unemployment rate in urban settlements increased by 2.2 per cent compared to the same period of last year, while in rural settlements it decreased by 0.8 per cent.
Traditionally, the unemployment rate is higher for men than for women,” says the National Statistics Office of Georgia.
The unemployment rate for women amounted to 9.4 per cent, while it was 13.9 per cent for men.

However, the economic activity rate is higher for men than for women.
In Q3 2020 the economic activity rate for women was 50.9 per cent, while for men it was 72.2 per cent. In the same period, the activity rate for women decreased by 3.3 per cent, while it increased slightly by 0.3 per cent for men in comparison to the previous year.
