Georgian Business Ombudsman Irakli Lekvinadze has resigned, citing "agreed alternative plans" as the reason for his resignation.
Lekvinadze says that he will talk about additional reasons for his resignation in the future.
Lekvinadze says that "this is not a spontaneous decision."
During our 22 months of work, [the Business Ombudsman Office] has reviewed 565 cases, of which we have responded to 300, and 68 per cent of [these] business requirements have been fully or partially met," said Lekvinadze.
Lekvinadze and Deputy Business Ombudsman Levan Kalandadze submitted resignation letters on November 8.
It was our desire… I categorically deny any political interference,” said Kalandadze.
Kalandadze noted that he and Lekvinadze will likely continue working in the same field.
Irakli Lekvinadze has held the position of Business Ombudsman since January 2018.
