The main protagonist of Swedish-Georgian-French co-production And Then We Danced Levan Gelbakhiani won in the best actors’ nomination at the Minsk International Film Festival yesterday.
The film directed by Levan Akin, which has been picked as Sweden's submission for the Best International Feature Film competition at the next Academy Awards, premiered at Tbilisi and Batumi cinemas yesterday.
Later on today, Akin wrote on his official Instagram page that Gelbakhiani has been nominated for best actor of the European Film Awards as well.
Akin said that he could never have imagined that the film would be embraced like this.
I could never have dreamt that I would meet this kid who so bravely and selflessly would dedicate his body and soul into a film that we both knew would be very provocative in his home country”, Akin said.
